Birthed Me

I was born, red wild and yellow.

It was here that you received me, and

Held me up like a tulip to your lip.

That wife, she birthed me,

Bled me out with my roots deep.

With her soft hands she gave me to you,

You habitually pulled me out by the roots,

Not knowing that I had reseeded myself,

A thousand times more in your garden.
